Parking Frequently Asked Questions
How can I purchase an ePermit?
Parking is free on Kean University campuses. All vehicles must register for an ePermit. www.kean.edu/parking. Create and log in to your parking portal.
Will I receive a physical permit pass?
Kean University uses license plate recognition (LPR). You will not receive a hang tag or sticker.
Where can I park?
Students may only park in lots with spaces designated for students (white lined spaces). Faculty/staff may only park in lots with spaces designated for faculty/staff (yellow lined spaces).
Can I add multiple vehicles to my parking permit?
Yes, you can add multiple vehicles to your permit. However, only one vehicle can be on campus at a time. If more than one vehicle is parking on campus this will result in multiple citations.
I just purchased a new vehicle with temporary tag. Do I need to register it?
Yes, all vehicles need to be registered, even with temporary tags, that will be parking on campus. Use the temporary tag numbers to register your car – not your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
- Once the permanent plates are received, revisit the portal and add new plates. Make sure your license plate is entered correctly.
I have a state handicap accessibility. What if there are no handicap accessible parking spaces available?
If all handicap spaces are filled, you must park in a regular space ( white for students, yellow for faculty/staff).
I received a virtual ticket and I do not believe I deserved it. How can I dispute it?
You may log on to your parking portal and appeal the virtual ticket. Follow instructions under “appeal”. Please allow time for a response. You will be notified of the decision via email.
How can I pay my parking virtual ticket?
You may pay your virtual ticket online through the parking website www.kean.edu/parking by credit or debit. You can also log on to your parking portal and pay the virtual ticket.
I have a rented vehicle, what do I do about parking?
You must go to the portal and register the license plate of the rental vehicle.
Click the “+Add” button in the vehicles section
Once in the “+Add Vehicle” screen, click Rental Vehicle and enter a rental end date.
Click Save when you are done. The rental vehicle will automatically be dropped from your permit on the rental end date.
Alternatively, you can leave the rental end date blank, but, in that case you must remember to manually remove the rental vehicle from your permit.
I am a vendor and will be working on campus for a day. Do I need to register my vehicle?
Yes. All vehicles brought to campus must be registered. You must register for a day pass at www.kean.edu/parking. Failure to register may result in ticketing or towing at the owner’s expense.
Do I need to register for an ePermit if I only plan to park on campus at night and on the weekends?
Yes. All vehicles parking on university property must register for an ePermit.
I am a student bringing my vehicle on campus for a day or a few days. Can I register for a daily parking permit?
Students or visitors can register for a daily pass at www.kean.edu/parking. Click Visitor Day Pass.
Where can I park?
Students may only park in white lines spaces.
Faculty/Staff may only park in yellow lines spaces.
Overnight parking is permitted only in the area between North Avenue and the ORANGE curb/barrier in the Vaugh-Eames parking lot which is marked for 24- hour parking. Overnight parking hours are between 3:00 am – 6:00 am.
