Goal:
The goal of the Kean University Department of Public Safety’s recruitment plan is to attract qualified individuals to purse a career with the Kean University Department of Public Safety with a special emphasis on recruiting underrepresented minorities and females.
General:
The Kean University Department of Public Safety is governed by 18A:6-4.2. The Kean University Department of Public Safety’s recruitment is open to all residents of New Jersey. The Kean University Department of Public Safety is an equal opportunity employer.
Based on the demographic data, this agency seeks to attract the following race, ethnicity, and/or gender categories to its ranks:
Hispanic

Pacific Islander
Multiracial
Female
Objectives and Activities:
Identify, establish, and maintain contact with identified minority organizations and social support groups including, but not limited to student, religious, ethic, racial, and gender-based organizations with special attention to previously identified underrepresented minorities.
Continue with Community Policing projects to improve and foster relationships with these identified minority organizations on campus.
Attend career days at other universities or community colleges to promote law enforcement careers with our department.
Make maximum use of the Kean University website to attract qualified candidates to our department.
Review and Evaluation:
The Director of Public Safety or their designee shall cause a review and evaluation of this recruitment plan at least once a year. The following data shall minimally be reviewed:
Number of applicants vs. the number of targeted minority applicants.
Number of applicants hired vs. the number of targeted minority applicants hired.
Number of community policing events attended.
Reviewing how applicants learned of job opportunities and then evaluating the effectiveness of how job opportunities are announced (I.E. Social Media, website, etc.)
