KeanSAFE provides opportunities for students to be a part of the public safety process at Kean. SAFE students pledge to uphold the core values of the Department of Public Safety and are empowered to be leaders within the community as part of our "collective efficacy" initiative.
The mission of a KeanSAFE student is to serve as a leader for a safer community by promoting the Department's core values of courage...integrity...respect.
What does KeanSAFE do?
The KeanSAFE team is made up of students utilized by the Department of Public Safety/Police who serve in a variety of roles. Members of the KeanSAFE team may be found representing the Department at various campus events, manning the information desk at Kean Hall, or assisting non-sworn Department employees with clerical and administrative tasks. KeanSAFE is also a student organization of Kean University, which volunteers from the University community are encouraged take part in.
Members of the KeanSAFE team working outside of Police Headquarters can be identified by the blue "Kean Public Safety" shirts they wear, and are available to assist members of our community with accessing services provided by both the University and the Department of Public Safety/Police.
The KeanSAFE team also serves in a liaison capacity to various student organizations, as well as students in general, for the Department.
