CARES Act Report
Kean University acknowledges that it has signed and returned the Certification and Agreement for the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund to award grants to eligible students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. No less than 50% of the total funds received under Section 18004(a) (1) of the CARES Act will be used to provide grants to Kean students.
The Kean University community was notified of the availability of the CARES Act Emergency Relief Application for eligible students. The link to the CARES Act application was published on the student portal, KeanWISE, and required students to access the application using their Kean login credentials. When completing the application, students were presented with statements designed to assess incurred cost of attendance expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19: food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, child care, and loss of employment - as a means to measure their current financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instructions and guidance were provided to students on the application and the Financial Aid website, which also contains a link to frequently asked questions.
