The School of Psychology Research Participant Pool
The School of Psychology Research Participant Pool is an administrative mechanism that offers Psychology undergraduate students exposure to a broad range of psychological research as an integral part of their introduction to Psychology. Students enrolled in either PSY 1000 or 2000 are required to earn research credits either by volunteering to participate in various research projects or completing an alternative assignment. This experience is intended to provide students with a broader understanding of research methods, to increase their knowledge of human psychology, and to expose them to research topics that they may want to pursue later in time. Note that students must be 18 years old to take part in the School of Psychology Research Participant Pool.
In accordance with APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct, students may opt out of volunteering for research projects. Those students will be given an equitable alternative assignment. A typical alternative assignment will consist of a typed review of a peered reviewed scholarly article that will equal one research credit.
