The Office of Residence Life provides a variety of residence halls services.
Air Conditioning
The residence halls are equipped with self-controlled air conditioning systems.
Air Cooling
The apartments are equipped with an air cooling system. The system runs from mid-April to mid-October. This system produces cooler air flow through the apartments. All windows must be closed in order for the system to operate properly. Should a problem arise with the air cooling system in your apartment, please notify the Community Center in your residence hall.
Apartments for the Physically Challenged and Hearing Impaired
Bartlett Hall and Burch Hall is equipped with several apartments designed specifically for the physically challenged and/or hearing impaired. If you should require any of these particular accommodations, contact the Office of Residence Life.
Cable Television
All apartments have a single outlet in the living room and two outlets in the bedrooms, and all traditionally styled suites have two outlets in its bedrooms; residents must provide their own cable wire for cable service from the outlets. Residents may also download the OnStream app to their smart TVs or visit www.watchdishtv.com for live programming.
The system provides nearly 100 channels of programming, including ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, TNT, TBS, USA Network, Bravo, ESPN, E!, Comedy Central, FXX, and more. The cost associated with this service is included in the overall housing charge. Cable problems should be reported to 833-493-4898 or mycampusvideo.com/support.

Internet Access
The residence halls and surrounding area are equipped with wireless network connectivity. All bedrooms are also hardwired for internet via the school's network. For ethernet port usage, students must provide their own CAT 5 or CAT 6 (network cable) wire to connect from their personal computers to the school network.
Laundry Facilities
The first floor of each residence hall is equipped with laundry rooms consisting of coinless washers and dryers. It is extremely important to report damaged or broken equipment to the residence hall staff as soon as possible. Laundry facilities are considered common areas in the residence halls. Damage done to the equipment or room will be assessed to all residents of the particular hall unless an individual or individuals responsible is identified.
Community Centers
Each residence hall’s Community Center is located on the first floor. The Community Center includes the Residence Hall Director’s office as well as the resident student mailboxes. When residents have questions, concerns, work order requests, lockouts, etc., they should stop by the Community Center. For further information and/or instructions, the Community Centers are open Monday to Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m.
Lounge Space
Lounges are available on the various floors in residence halls, which may be used for floor meetings, recreation, studying, or programming events. Each apartment-style residence hall has a small lounge area located in the Community Center for student use. Usage and modified hours are determined by the staff of the University Center.
Cougar Cardio Room
Located in Dougall Hall, the Cougar Cardio Room offers students exercises ranging from running, cycling, or rowing, which can improve heart health, boost endurance, and help maintain overall good health.

Mail Service
All mail is delivered to campus five (5) days a week during the academic year, and four (4) days a week during summer sessions. Before being transferred to the Whiteman Hall Residential Mailroom, it is processed and sorted by our campus partner Materiel Services. There is no mail delivery to the University on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and during Spring, Summer, and Winter Breaks. Be mindful that although your letter or package may arrive on campus, it may not be ready for pick up until the following 1-2 business days. Residents will receive an email from reslifemail@kean.edu once their package is ready to be picked up from Whiteman Hall.
A student's mailing address should read:
Student’s Name (as listed on their Kean ID card)
Residence Hall Name
Apartment/Room Number, Bedroom A or B

Students are responsible for notification of address changes. Should a student receive another student's mail, they should return it to the residence hall’s Community Center staff or to the Whiteman Hall Mailroom. Residence Life does not forward mail to another address.

Shuttle Service
A 20-passenger van is in operation for the Office of Residence Life. This free service is available for resident students only, and a Kean University Cougar ID card is required in order to board the shuttle. A special lift accommodates passengers in wheelchairs. The shuttle does not operate when the University is closed or during inclement weather. An updated operating schedule will be available each semester. The shuttle frequents local food markets, department stores and train stations.

Newsletters/Publications
The Office of Residence Life publishes a monthly newsletter to better acquaint residents with the University and the residence halls. Items relating to services, policies and procedures, and programs are included. Enclosed display cases are also located on each floor and contain University and Residence Life information.
