Applying for Graduation
Do I have to apply for graduation?
Yes! All degree candidates must complete an online application in KeanWISE to be considered for graduation. This application is required in order to earn your diploma.
How do I apply for graduation?
Complete your application in KeanWISE. When logged in, go to the Academic Profile section, then click Apply for Graduation. Complete the application and pay the $100 processing fee. If you are unable to pay the fee when you apply, it will be added to your student account balance.
What if I cannot pay the graduation application fee?
You can still submit your application even if you have not paid the $100 processing fee. The fee will be added to your student account. Be sure to resolve any outstanding financial balances prior to your degree conferral date so your diploma and transcript can be shipped to your home address.
Degree Conferral
What is degree conferral?
Degree conferral is the process where the Graduation Team reviews and verifies that all required coursework and grades are received, and that you fulfill the degree requirements for your major program.
When are degrees awarded?
Degrees are typically awarded about four to five weeks after the degree date. For instance, for May 2024 graduates, all degrees were awarded by June 24, 2024.
How will I be notified when my degree is conferred?
You will receive a confirmation email from graduation@kean.edu once all degrees have been conferred and diplomas have been ordered.
Where will you ship my diploma?
Diplomas will be shipped to home addresses for students without financial holds, along with a complimentary official transcript. Be sure to confirm your home address is current when applying for graduation!
What if I have a financial hold?
You must resolve any financial holds to receive your diploma and transcript. Once resolved, Kean will mail your diploma to your home address.
Transcripts and Commencement
How can I request an official transcript?
Once your degree has been awarded, you may request an official transcript online for proof of graduation through the National Student Clearinghouse. Learn more on the Transcript Request webpage.
When is commencement?
Each year, January, May and August degree candidates are invited to participate in a May Commencement Ceremony. Information regarding Commencement can be found on the University Commencement webpage.
