Child Care Center FAQs
FAQs
Can I tour the Kean University Child Care and Development Center before my child is enrolled?
Absolutely! It is required for parents and their children to tour the center prior to enrolling. This gives the parents a chance to see our school and understand if the school is the right fit for their child's education. It also gives the child the opportunity to interact with their potential new environment. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our facility tours are offer on a limited basis.
Are part-time spots available?
Because we are a school and not a day care, it is recommended that students participate in school for a full day (until 5:00 p.m.).
What is the cost of tuition?
Tuition rates are based on whether the parent is a student, faculty or alumni of Kean University or not. Tuition rates are adjusted at the beginning of each school year. Please contact the director/office for current tuition rates.
Do you accept children with parents not affiliated with Kean University?
Yes! While we give priority to students whose parents are affiliated with Kean University, we do offer spots for students in the community. We have many students who come to us from outside of Kean who want to join our school.
Does the Kean University Child Care and Development Center provide food for their students?
No. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide wholesome and nutritious no heat foods for their children, provided in an easy to open container, along with a water bottle.
*Our school is a Nut-Free Facility; therefore, no child is allowed to bring nuts of any kind or in any derivative. Please check labels carefully before sending snacks to school.
Can I visit my child during the school day?
Yes! Parents are always welcome to come visit our classes any time throughout the day. Many parents become involved in classroom activities, and the children enjoy it when they get parent visitors. However due to COVID-19 restrictions this service has been temporarily discontinued.
When does the Kean University Child Care and Development Center close?
We follow Kean University's calendar and are closed when Kean is closed. There are certain days school will be closed for teacher professional development. Also, the center is closed for vacation for two weeks in August. Calendars for the school year are provided at the beginning of the school year and upon request.
How can I get more information about the program?
You can contact the Center's office for additional information at 908-737-6140.
