Kean University recognized 908 seniors who will graduate with honors as part of the Class of 2017 at the Senior Honors Convocation at Harwood Arena on Friday, April 28 as the students’ family and friends cheered from the stands.

Research Days at Kean University is an annual celebration of student and faculty research and creative endeavors. Since its inception in 2009, the number of students presenting at Research Days has increased from 90 to a record-breaking 485.
Kean Junior Sarah Mack recently received an honorable mention in the 2017 Goldwater Scholarship competition. This year, 1286 students from 470 institutions were nominated for Goldwater scholarships. 307 Honorable Mentions were awarded.

For a second straight year, the Kean University Gospel Choir has been selected to compete in the Adult Choir Category at McDonald’s Gospelfest, an annual Mother’s Day weekend event in Newark. Last year, the Kean Gospel Choir took first place in the competition.
Kean University alumna Nicole Halkias ’94/M.A. ’98 was recently named Teacher of the Year at Brookside Place School in Cranford. The fifth grade teacher received an anonymous nomination that led to her award, recognizing her for excellence in teaching––her life’s work.
