Kean University Professor Jan Kaminsky, A Disney Resource on Campus

The Kean University community may not know that it has a great Disney resource right on campus. Nursing professor Jan Kaminsky, Ph.D., has been named to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, a team that offers helpful advice to Disney vacation planners.

“It's an exciting opportunity to be a part of the Disney magic! We have a chance to advise other families and also to contribute our own opinions to The Walt Disney Company on various initiatives and experiences,” said Kaminsky.

Kaminsky’s experience with Disney World began with a childhood visit, when she got to go on the rides over and over again since it was the coldest week of the year and the park had few visitors. However, she never visited the park again until an unexpectedly emotional return after she had children of her own. Upon entering Main Street, U.S.A., she burst into tears.

For Kaminsky, adding to the experience is her love of planning, and all the details that come with it. Growing up in the New York-New Jersey metro area, she tells of helping in the planning of friends' Disney vacations. So, when Disney opened its applications for the 10th Annual Disney Parks Moms Panel in September, 2016, she thought it smart to quickly send in her application.

Being part of the Disney Parks Moms Panel doesn’t affect any of her responsibilities as a professor, she said. “This is a volunteer role and falls under my service requirement, much like being on the board of another service or professional organization.”

A Disney Parks Moms Panel member on campus means Kean vacation planners don’t have to look any further. The quest is over, be it questions about Disney experience, thinking about what to take or what not to take; fears about what to expect; and a host of other questions visitors to the park may have.
