ACEN Compliance
Kean University values the process of accreditation. We recognize that quality educational programs are identified through continued compliance with the ACEN standards against which all nursing education programs are measured. As such, we will continually strive to demonstrate integrity in all aspects of the accreditation process. Through a careful and ongoing review of the ACEN Standards, the Nursing programs at Kean University are committed to timely submission of all required documentation including:
- Annual Accreditation Reports each year once program is implemented
- Timely submission of all fees associated with ACEN accreditation
- Timely notice of any planned or unexpected substantive program changes
- Timely reporting of any institutional factors which may affect the program’s progress toward accreditation
- Timely remediation of any ACEN recommendations or any concerns that may result in non-compliance
- Annual public reporting of data related to admission, graduation rate, national examination outcomes, and employment rates
- Complaints against the program regarding its compliance with ACEN accreditation standards or adherence to established ACEN policies and procedures may be filed to the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing directly. License Reciprocity
All Kean University Registered Nurses (RN) can practice in all 50 states via license reciprocity.

Student Achievement Outcome I: Graduates’ Success on the Licensure and/or Certification Examination
The Department only offers RN-BSN and MSN programs. Holding an active, valid New Jersey Nursing license is an admissions requirement of all current Kean Nursing degree programs. Therefore, 100% of students enrolling in Kean University Nursing Programs have already passed the exam.

50% of students will complete the program in 100% of the allotted program length. Note: most students enrolled are part-time working professionals, so program completion length depends on number of courses taken by the student each semester.

Learning Outcomes
RN-BSN End of Program Student Learning Outcomes (EPSLOs)
1. Integrate theories and concepts from liberal education into nursing practice, to build a holistic understanding of the human experience across the life span.
2. Apply leadership concepts, skills, and decision making in the provision of high quality nursing care, interprofessional care coordination, and assume accountability for one’s own and delegated nursing care delivery in a variety of healthcare settings.
3. Utilize evidence, clinical judgment, interprofessional perspectives, and patient preferences in planning, implementing, and evaluating healthcare and outcomes.
4. Demonstrate skills in using patient care technologies, information systems, and effective communication to support culturally congruent and safe nursing practice.
5. Apply critical thinking, ethical principles and client advocacy to address social policies on health care, especially for vulnerable populations from a holistic caring framework.
6. Evaluate the impact of health/illness beliefs, values, attitudes, and sociocultural practices of individuals, families, groups, communities, and diverse populations across the health-illness continuum.

MSN Program
MSN End of Program Student Learning Outcomes (EPSLOs)
1. Formulate innovative solutions to problems within complex health delivery systems across diverse healthcare settings by incorporating concepts from economics, public health, and organizational sciences with empirical, ethical, and aesthetic nursing knowledge.
2. Evaluate theory and evidence-based research for incorporation into the design of advanced nursing practices which facilitate safety, quality, resource utilization, and equitable healthcare at the systems level.
3. Develop effective communication strategies and leadership behaviors to lead collaborative Interprofessional teams toward the improvement of quality and safety in healthcare and the achievement of optimal health outcomes.
4. Integrate concepts from population health, health policy, and social advocacy in the development of culturally congruent strategies to reduce health disparities, increase access to care, and improve health outcomes of individuals and populations at the local, national, and global levels.
5. Support the advancement of nursing practice through the skilled application of leadership behaviors which are informed by professional nursing standards, ethics, national benchmarks for quality and safety, local, national and global health initiatives, and personal and professional integrity.
6. Utilize information technology to communicate, educate, mitigate errors, and support decision-making at the systems level.
