Requirements
Prospective first-year students who have a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher with a minimum of 16 college preparatory courses may choose not to submit their SAT scores as part of the admissions application process. Of note, test scores are required for the following applicants:
NJCSTM majors (honors program)
Home-school students
International students
Merit Scholarship applicants
GED applicants
SAT test-optional applicants are required to submit the following documents along with an official high school transcript:
Two (2) letters of recommendation from either a teacher, counselor, employer and/or coach, etc.
Personal essay (1-2 pages) expressing your educational and professional career goals
List of your high school activities and/or work experiences, indicating any leadership positions held
The Office of Admissions will use alternate indicators to evaluate college preparedness, including but not limited to courses taken, grade point average, class rank, and essays provided by the students. If you are admitted to the University through SAT test-optional admissions, you will still be required to take the reading, writing, and math placement tests.
NOTE: SAT test-optional students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are eligible to receive a one-time $1,000 Climb Higher Scholarship and are ineligible for merit scholarships. To learn more about scholarship eligibility, please visit the Scholarship Services website.
