UNION, N.J. – Two events at Kean University’s Miron Student Center on Friday, December 8, challenged students to expand their worldview.
Sophomore Jianna Pisa, of Williamstown, switched places for the day with Kean College of Liberal Arts (CLA) Dean Jonathan Mercantini, Ph.D. Pisa won CLA’s inaugural Dean for a Day, a competition designed to increase collaboration between university faculty, administration and students.
Amy Morales was sleeping when Hurricane Maria ripped through her home in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico last September, breaking windows and sending clothes and debris flying through the house and into the storm outside.
“It felt like a cyclone,” said Morales, 20. “It was horrible.”

Kean University alumnus William Weaver ‘17 was recently recognized by Roselle Park for designing the logo for the township’s annual Arts in the Street Festival. Roselle Park Mayor Carl Hokanson presented Weaver with a certificate of appreciation for his work.
If we live in a post-truth age, when facts take a back seat to emotions and personal beliefs, then College of Liberal Arts (CLA) faculty want Kean University’s students ready for it.
