The Office of Planning and Special Counsel
Within the Office of Planning and Special Counsel, three distinct divisions work in tandem to support Kean University: Campus Planning, Strategic Initiatives and Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU).
At the Office of Planning and Special Counsel, our dedication to strategic planning, innovative initiatives, and global partnerships underscores our commitment to ensuring the success of Kean University and its diverse community.
Strategic Initiatives
Established in 2015, the Strategic Initiatives division plays a pivotal role in coordinating innovative projects, cultivating strategic partnerships, and spearheading special initiatives. This division encompasses several essential departments, including Strategic Initiatives, Career Services, the Center for International Studies, Kean Skylands, the Human Rights Institute, the Holocaust Resource Center, and the Diversity Council on Global Education and Citizenship.
Career Services
Kean provides viable pathways to career success. Our commitment to research and experiential learning helps our students acquire marketable skills. Our mission is to assist students and alumni with identifying their career goals and securing rewarding jobs.
Center for International Studies
Students from all over the world come to Kean to experience affordable, world-class education just a short train ride away from New York City. Our knowledgeable staff will support you in every phase of your college experience.
Kean Skylands
Kean Skylands is located on 40 scenic acres of rural Morris County and learn. The campus is home to four degree-completion programs, designed for area residents who wish to further their studies close to home. Skylands encompasses protected wetlands and forests that enhance Kean's sustainability programs by serving as a living laboratory.
Human Rights Institute
The Human Rights Institute at Kean was established to shine a light on human rights issues and violations across the globe, while inspiring the next generation to create a more just and peaceful world. Each year, the institute hosts a diverse variety of special events, in addition to developing instructional resources for educators.
Holocaust Resource Center
The Holocaust Resource Center (HRC) is a joint initiative between Kean University and the Holocaust Resource Foundation, a private philanthropic organization founded by Holocaust survivors who rebuilt their lives in New Jersey.
Diversity Council
The Diversity Council on Global Education and Citizenship supports the Holocaust Resource Center in achieving its goals. The Council collaborates with Kean’s College of Education to provide more than 130 member school districts with opportunities that empower educators to create safe and inclusive learning environments for all students.
Campus Planning
This division assumes responsibility for the oversight and management of all campus facilities and grounds across Kean University's Union, Skylands, and Princeton campuses in New Jersey. Beyond this, Campus Planning also supervises campus transportation, the maintenance of the campus infrastructure, and the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.
Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU)
Notably, Kean University stands out as the sole American public university to offer a complete campus experience in China through Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU). This remarkable 500-acre campus provides students from Kean USA and institutions nationwide the unique opportunity to study in a fully English-speaking environment alongside peers from across China. Kean USA students can study abroad at WKU, all for the same cost as studying on our U.S. campuses. Oversight of the WKU campus and working with the WKU Board of Directors is the responsibility of the Senior Vice President for Planning and Special Counsel.
