How can I apply to graduate school at Kean University?
The graduate application can be found online by visiting our online application system. The system allows applicants to submit their application along with supporting supplemental materials electronically. Supporting materials can be submitted either online or mailed to our Graduate Admissions Office. Please be advised that paper applications are not accepted.
What is the application deadline?

Where do I send my application materials?
After you have submit your application, log back in to your account and go to the Supplemental Items Link. Here you can upload your documents (i.e: resume/CV, personal statement, licenses, etc…). Additionally, you will provide the contact information for your recommenders for the application system to send a request. requesting letters of recommendation. Once an online application is submitted, any additional supporting materials should be sent to:

Do I need to take any standardized tests for my graduate application?
Submission of standardized tests, such as the GRE, GMAT, MAT, or PRAXIS is required for certain programs. It is best to view the individual program page to learn about the unique requirements specific to your prospective program.
How many credits are considered full-time?
Students registering for 9 or more credits are considered full-time students at Kean University. Students registering for 1-8 credits are considered part-time students.
Do you offer part-time study?
Most of our graduate programs do accommodate part-time students. Please consult the individual program pages to see if the program you are interested in accommodates part-time students.
When are classes offered?
The vast majority of graduate courses are offered in the evening hours, most starting after 4:30pm to accommodate the working student. There are select courses that are offered on Saturday mornings. How accessible is Kean University?
Kean University is located conveniently between the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike. We even have a New Jersey Transit train stop right on campus! Our campus is serviced by a convenient shuttle system (we actually use old-world trollies) so whether you need to be on the East Campus or on our main campus, it is only a short trolley ride away!
What is the cost per-credit?

Are there separate charges for out-of-state students?
As we are a state university, we are required to charge separate tuition and fees for New Jersey residents and those students who hold residency in another state. Visit our Tuition & Fees page for more information.
Is there any financial aid or scholarships available?
Kean University remains one of the most affordable universities in the nation. Regardless of family income, there are financial resources to assist every student with meeting the cost of attending the University. You can apply for financial aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov. How long do most graduate programs take to complete?
Most programs if completed on a full-time basis can be completed in about two years. Some programs do take longer, due to the amount of credits that are required to complete the degree. Depending on how many credits are taken per semester and how many total credits are required for a program truly dictates how long a part-time student would take to complete a degree program.
How do I request more information?

Where do I send my tuition deposit?
Tuition deposits can be submitted online using your KeanWise ID and password. Additional information for admitted students can be found at kean.edu/accepted.
Can I request a deferral to Kean University?
The Graduate College recognizes the need for students to defer their acceptance, however, deferrals must adhere to the following guidelines:
- For students who have been accepted into a program will be allowed to request a deferral for up to one academic year.
- The PsyD, DPT, and Occupational Therapy programs do not permit deferrals of an acceptance.
- In all instances, a deferral will not be processed without the required non-refundable tuition deposit for their respective program.

Does Kean offer on-campus housing for graduate students?
The Office of Residence Life provides housing for full-time graduate students.
