Biography

Sarah Ruel Bergeron, RA is a licensed architect and global health expert who has won awards and international recognition for her work implementing housing interventions that improve health outcomes in at-risk communities around the world. At the Michael Graves College School of Public Architecture she covers the topics of health and equity in architecture, community participatory design, social and environmental justice, and the social and structural determinants of health through her courses and a research project in Trenton, NJ. Her experience includes 8 years in the nonprofit sector implementing healthy housing solutions in the global south. She has also worked in practice on healthcare architecture, and affordable housing, with a focus on sustainable design, resiliency, and hazard mitigation in vulnerable environments.
