Kyoung Kim, Ph.D.
Dr. Kim’s research is focused on three main areas in the study of recreation/sport/event management: (1) management issues in sport and recreation organizations, (2) improving the lives of people with disabilities through recreation and sports, and (3) application of data analytics using data mining, big data analysis, and visualization in the recreation, sports, and event management fields.
Dr. Kim is currently serving as an editorial board member on three leading academic journals, including the Journal of Global Sport Management, the Journal of Applied Sport Management, and the International Journal of Sport Management. Recreation & Tourism. His accomplishments in research include twenty-five publications. His research has been published in leading academic journals, including: 1) Managing Sport and Leisure, 2) the International Journal of Sport Management, Recreation and Tourism, 3) Sport Marketing Quarterly, 4) Managerial and Decision Economics, and 5) the International Journal on Disability and Human Development. He has also presented his research at leading sport and recreation conferences nationally and internationally.

Teaching Philosophy
Respect and care for the student frames my teaching philosophy and values. The way I respect students has a great impact on their learning, as well as on their life. Respecting all students and their experiences, praising good behavior and work, and using positive reinforcement encourages students to learn.
