Dean's Message

A Message from the Dean, George Chang, Ph.D.
The Dorothy and George Hennings College of Science, Mathematics and Technology
(Formerly called the College of Natural, Applied and Health Sciences)
March 30, 2020
Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:
Faculty/Staff:
Congratulations to the faculty and staff of our college for the AMAZING job you all did to move close to six hundred (600) class sections online in record time as the coronavirus pandemic picked up and we needed to rapidly address the need to continue educating our students! My office recognizes the tremendous work you have done and continue to do daily, as we face these challenging times together. I thank you all for your efforts and recognize that you are doing all this while also caring for your families. THANK YOU!
As you teach, please be aware of students not in class and those who may be having difficulties with class or issues of isolation/virus related concerns. Please contact Ms. Mayda Martinez at maymarti@kean.edu , Assistant to the Dean, to make us aware of these issues so we can be of assistance.
Students:
I also want to acknowledge that we realize that change in itself is challenging enough (and sudden change can be more so). Having to adjust to a new online format suddenly for delivery of your classes while also dealing with major concerns for the health and safety of yourself, your family and friends during the pandemic is tough! Know that Kean is doing what it can to help. Make sure to communicate with your professors and let them know your concerns or any additional challenges you may be facing…it is important to do that. Kean also has a new resource site set up for you – please see this Student Resources page (https://www.kean.edu/coronavirus-information/resources-current-prospective-students)
Thank you everyone for all your efforts as we continue to face this new pandemic situation together.
George Chang, Ph.D.
Dean
