SANS Cybersecurity Awareness Training
Staff & Student Cybersecurity Awareness Training
Security Awareness Training is available to all Kean University faculty, staff and students through an online platform provided by the SANS Institute. The Learning Management System (LMS) utilized by SANS for the web-based online training is SAP Litmos, which many organizations and higher education institutions use.
If you are interested in an in-person training session or set of customized modules for your projects, teams or departments, please contact Stan Mierzwa, in our Kean University Center for Cybersecurity at smierzwa@kean.edu.
After clicking on the web link to the training – https://kean.litmos.com staff will be presented with the web page seen in Figure 1. After clicking the “Login” button, you will be redirected to login using single sign-on.

Upon successful login to the cybersecurity awareness training portal, you will be presented with a dashboard, as seen in Figure 2, outlining the training modules available to you and the completion status.

To begin the 35 to 45-minute general awareness training, please click on the “Cybersecurity Staff & Student Awareness Training - 2024” module block as seen in Figure 3.

You can complete the cybersecurity awareness training in one sitting, or you can pause and resume the training on another day or time – the system will keep track of your completion status. Upon completion of the training, you will have the ability to download a certificate of completion by clicking on the “Achievements” link, as seen in Figure 4 below.

Completion Certifications:
Upon completion of the Cybersecurity Staff & Student Awareness Training - 2024, users can obtain a PDF certificate. To obtain the certificate, navigate to the course contents and click the "Achievements" link. To the right on the Achievements screen, there will exist a link labeled "Download certificate". Click on the "Download certificate" link and a PDF certificate will be created indicating the date the training course was completed.
