As the previous Task Force recommended, each College’s faculty and staff were invited to meet and discuss the important questions related to the transition to departments and chairs during the College Meeting.
The goal of the Provost’s portion of the College Meeting was to provide guidance to inform the breakout discussions. During the breakout discussions Guided Questions (see below) were created to gather feedback from the faculty related to their recommendations on their current program, school, or department as we transition to the department and chair model. The Department and Chair Implementation (DCI) Task Force will review the feedback from faculty as the Task Force develops our recommendations.
As the DCI Task Force process continues, we will also focus on feedback from our colleagues in the CWA, the staff, as well as with the Executive Directors as they transition to their new roles at the University.
College Meeting Breakout Sessions
Breakout sessions were grouped by academic programs, schools, or departments with the goal to engage as many as possible in the discussion.
One Guided Questions form was requested from each academic program, department or school group.
Each participating group identified a volunteer to assist with entering the feedback on the form on behalf of the academic unit (program, department, or school).
Once the form was completed by the group during the breakout session, the volunteer distributed it to the group members and the College Task Force Representative for their records.
The College Representative uploaded the completed forms to a shared folder with the Dean (creating a College record for reference moving forward).
The volunteer also entered the group's responses into a survey through a link available on the Guided Questions form. The Survey created a Task Force record for reference moving forward. Survey entries were requested by the end of the day on Wednesday, May 18.
Group members received a copy of the completed form and completed survey for their records from the group volunteer.
This website will continue to be the community’s point of reference for our work. The Provost’s video is available to view for those who were unable to attend the College Meeting. The Guided Questions are posted to review, but are not available for individuals to complete as the questions were meant for group discussion. For those who were unable to attend, but would like to provide feedback on the Provost’s video remarks and the Guided Questions, please use this link.
Thank you for your participation and we look forward to your feedback.
