Athletic Training Master’s Degree Program Admission Requirements

Deadline- Priority Deadline January15, 2022, Regular Deadline April 1, 2022

 

  1. All applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. (Official copies of all post-secondary transcripts- including transcripts that reflect transfer credit)
  2. Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale

Successfully complete the following prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better: (P/F grades will not be considered)

  1. Human Anatomy (3-4 credits with lab. When anatomy and physiology are taken as a combined course, two semesters are necessary to meet this requirement) 
  2. Human Physiology (3-4 credits with lab. When anatomy and physiology are taken as a combined course, two semesters are necessary to meet this requirement) 
  3. Chemistry w/Lab (3-4 credits)
  4. Physics w/Lab (3-4 credits)
  5. Biology w/Lab (3-4 credits
  6. Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology w/Lab (3-4 credits)
  7. Statistics 
  8. Kinesiology or Biomechanics
  9. Psychology

(Prerequisites are not required to have been taken while an undergraduate.  The courses may be completed at a local community college or any accredited institution of higher learning.)

  1. First Aid and Professional Rescuer CPR certification or equivalent
  2. Completed Athletic Training Experience Form required at time of application. (Evidence of 50 observational hours from a least two different Athletic Training settings with verification from two different Certified Athletic Trainers.)
  3. Submit a statement of personal and professional goals (minimum one full page, double spaced, typed).
  4. 2 letters of recommendation (One must be from a Certified Athletic Trainer with whom observation hours were completed and one must be from a Professor who can comment on academic performance).
  5. Professional Resume/CV 
  6. Recommended Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score taken within 5 years of the time of application (minimum score = 300)
  7. Complete an interview with Program Director and Selection Committee. (The interview should demonstrate the student's understanding of profession, career goals, and general verbal communication skills)
