Questions regarding your credit evaluation
If you have questions about your transfer credit evaluation or if your credits did not transfer the way you expected, please send an email from your Kean.edu e-mail address to transfer@kean.edu with the following information:
Subject Line: Transfer Credit Evaluation Question, (Your student ID#), (Full Name), (Major)
Body of E-Mail: Your questions relating to transfer credits, including specific information related to the course(s) that you are asking to transfer. This includes course code, course name, and institution.
Request an updated evaluation
We encourage students to apply during their last semester at their previous institution. This means that the initial transfer credit evaluation will not include in-progress courses and their associate’s degree. If you have already submitted your final transcript and you would like to expedite your updated evaluation, please e-mail transfer@kean.edu with the following information:
Subject Line: Updated Evaluation Request, (Your student ID#), (Full Name), (Major)
Body of Email: Date updated transcript was sent, and how it was sent (electronically* or by mail)
* = If electronically, please provide the email address to which it was sent.
Appeal your evaluation
If you have already followed the procedure to ask Questions regarding your credit evaluation, and you believe that the transfer credit has not been evaluated in a manner consistent with the NJ Statewide Transfer Agreement, students may appeal by emailing transfer@kean.edu with the following information:
Subject Line: Transfer Evaluation Official Appeal, (Your student ID#), (Full Name), (Major)
Body of Email:
- The name(s) of previous institution(s)
- Name and course code for each course being appealed and the Kean University equivalency
- A brief statement explaining why the credit(s) should be transferred
- Attach necessary course materials, such as course description and/or syllabi, and a short justification as to why you included them
You will receive a response from our Transfer Credit Appeal Committee within 15 days of receiving your appeal request.
Take coursework at another institution
Current undergraduate students in good academic standing may request to take coursework at another institution. Please have the chairperson scan and email the completed, signed form to transfer@kean.edu with the student's ID number in the subject line. You may keep this form as a receipt. Upon completion of the coursework, please submit an official copy of the transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions no later than six (6) weeks after completion of the course(s). The transfer credits will be added to the degree audit within 30 days of receiving the official transcript. Please note that the maximum number of credits a student may take is eighteen (18) during a fall or spring semester and six (6) during a summer session. This includes courses taken at both Kean University and at the other institutions. No course will be accepted in transfer if it exceeds that limit.
