STEM Students Get Real-World Lab Experience Through Research First Initiative
Dec 21, 2017
The Research First Initiative at Kean’s New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics (NJCSTM) gives undergraduate STEM students invaluable real-world research experience. The program pairs students, as early as freshman year, with faculty research scientists conducting authentic laboratory research. RFI offers research tracks in cancer biology, drug discovery, bioinformatics, 3D scientific visualization, STEM education, analytical chemistry, genetics and computational mathematics.
The program is open to qualified NJCSTM and College of Natural, Applied and Health Sciences undergraduates, including education majors.
Designed to attract and retain students in STEM fields, the RFI offers Kean’s diverse student population the training and skills needed to enter graduate school or the job market with lab experience, published research and confidence.
