Kean University students Marc Louis Rosario and Jenn Abujawdeh presented at the AIGA NY Warm-Ups New Narratives in Motion event held at Parsons School of Design this December. Recognizing that millennials get most of their news via social media, Rosario and Abujawdeh developed a campaign focused on empowering people through Facebook. View their project, Facebook Actions, here.
"We created this campaign in an effort to bring light to community support and inspire others to be much more than bystanders in situations that don’t directly affect them,” said Rosario. “We were excited to share this idea in the presence of creative professionals."
Facebook Actions uses 365 degree video technology to help non-profit organizations create immersive experiences designed to raise awareness about contemporary social issues. Facebook Actions is designed to foster compassion and promote action that goes beyond the hashtag activism that is so popular today.
Warm-Ups is an AIGA NY education initiative designed to provide undergraduate design students in the New York metropolitan area with a platform to introduce their work to the AIGA community. In previous years, the most promising students from Parsons, Pratt, SVA, FIT and Cooper Union have presented their projects alongside industry leaders to AIGA’s audience of design professionals, educators and students.
Presenters are nominated by department chairs and faculty from local schools. Each student presents one project that they feel strongly about and that reflects the culture and pedagogy of their program.
