Teaching Philosophy

I am excited to enter an engaged classroom where knowledge is constantly being shared. First and foremost, I want my students to become life-long learners, where their thirst for knowledge does not end the moment they walk out of my class or across the commencement stage. I want to share with them through literature that the human mind is constantly learning and formulating new ideas.

The best part about teaching at Kean University

The most valuable part of teaching at Kean University is working with our students. Our students are so unique and valuable as they come from various backgrounds and different experiences. Working with the students and watching them develop as critical thinkers is the most rewarding aspect of the job.

My students should know

My student know me for my love of fantasy literature and popular culture. I am the "Harry Potter" and "Lord of the Rings" professor. My students also know me for my creative lesson plans and community focused projects. I am also known for freshman advising and new student advisement.
