Fine Arts Admission Requirements
In addition to the University’s admissions requirements:
M.A. in Fine Arts: Studio Option - Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in fine arts (or acceptable earned credits in the area.) Interviewees must present a studio portfolio and grade records. The program seeks students who are highly receptive to instruction and genuinely interested in expanding their artistic and conceptual practice under the guidance of an expertly prepared faculty.
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0*
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Departmental portfolio review — please submit your online portfolio through Slide Room at kean.slideroom.com.
- Two letters of recommendation
- Personal statement
- Professional Resume/CV
- Departmental interview may be required
- Official TOEFL or IELTS score reports

PREREQUISITE COURSEWORK
- 30 hours of art courses at the undergraduate level
M.A. in Fine Arts: Supervision Certificate- Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in fine arts (or acceptable earned credits in the area) and K-12 Art Teaching Certification. Interviewees must present a studio portfolio, grade records and an academic writing sample. Applicants must have completed three years of full-time teaching in public schools prior to graduating from the MA program.
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0*
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Two letters of recommendation from professional associates
- Personal statement
- Professional Resume/CV
- Departmental interview assessing the following:
- Studio portfolio
- Proficiencies in academic writing
- Dialogic skills
- Official TOEFL or IELTS score reports

M.A. in Fine Arts: K-12 Art Teaching Certification Option:
Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in fine arts (or acceptable earned credits in the area.) Interviewees must present a studio portfolio, undergraduate grade records and an academic writing sample. Passing scores in the Praxis Core Test (reading, writing, math) are also required (please consult with program coordinator regarding the timeline on this requirement.)
