ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the University's admission requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0*
- New Jersey Standard Teaching Certification
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Two letters of recommendation
- Professional Resume/CV
- Personal statement
- Departmental interview may be required
- Writing sample may be required
- Official TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score reports (International Students Only)

Non-Degree P-3 Alternate Route
The Alternate Route program is designed for non-education bachelor’s degree holders who wish to become school teachers.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the University's admission requirements:
- The completion of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree or Master of Arts or Master of Science degree with an overall 3.0 GPA
NOTE: If you graduated prior to September 2016- the GPA of 2.75 is acceptable
- A copy of your CE, Certificate of Eligibility from the Department of Education
- Submit Praxis 2 scores for Early Childhood/P-3
- Letter of employment from a school district indicating participation in an Alternate Route program
- Proof of completion of the 50 hour Pre-Service Workshop. Provide the signed copy of the Verification of Program Completion form.
NOTE: IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE 50 HOUR PRE-SERVICE WORKSHOP, YOU MAY DO SO BY ENROLLING IN THIS REQUIREMENT AT KEAN UNIVERSITY. CLICK HERE TO ENROLL.Official copies of transcripts from all Colleges attended
- Interview with the Office of Teacher Certification and Alternate Programs before enrolling in classes. An Intake Teacher Readiness Questionnaire will be provided.
- Official TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score reports (International Students Only)
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- 24 credits of classroom coursework required for certification
- Must be continuously matriculated
- Must complete a 50-Hour Pre-service Program unless you hold a provisional license
- All candidates are required to complete a one-year mentoring arranged through their school district before becoming fully certified

Certification with P-3 Endorsement
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

- Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) or a Standard Certificate
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Passing score on the Early Childhood Content Knowledge PRAXIS (5025)
- Professional Resume/CV
- Personal statement
- Official TOEFL or IELTS score reports (International Students Only)
