Nursing (MSN) Admission Requirements
Admission Requirements
In addition to the University’s admission requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0
- Lower GPAs may be considered and offered conditional admission based on the overall strength of the application.
- Official transcripts from all institutions attended
- Proof of valid NJ RN license (applicants should obtain proof here: http://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov
- Two letters of recommendation attesting to professional and academic competence
- Professional Resume/CV
- Personal statement
- Departmental interview may be required
- Official TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score reports (for applicants whose native language is not English). Exceptions can be made for students who have completed at least 6 credits of college level English courses from a U.S. institution, or who have submitted SAT or ACT exam scores.
Prerequisite Coursework
- Minimum grade of “B” in the following prerequisite courses: Undergraduate Statistics, Nursing Research and Nursing Theory
Program Requirements
- For Nursing leadership: 32 credits and Community Health: 38 credits
- Planned sequence of coursework each semester
- 6 hours weekly clinical time associated with the two 2 credit clinical courses
- Applicants with a bachelor's degree in a discipline other than nursing who are currently RN's may still apply for either MSN program and are eligible for conditional admission to our bridge option. Applicants accepted into the bridge option are required to complete an additional three undergraduate courses:

- Presentation of evidence of having completed the following courses at an
- accredited four-year institution:
- Physical Assessment with practicum (2 credit minimum with a grade of B or better)
- Human Growth and Development or Lifespan Psychology (3 credit minimum)
- Community/Public Health Nursing with clinical component (3 credit minimum)
- Professional Resume/CV
- Official TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score reports (for applicants whose native language is not English)
- Courses offered on Saturdays only at this time
