Counselor Education @Kean Ocean
Department of Counselor Education at the KeanOcean Campus
Gateway Building (Building #101, Parking Lot #4), 1 College Dr., Toms River, NJ
The Department of Counselor Education offers graduate courses leading to the MA in Counseling at KeanOcean on a part time basis, primarily on weekends, with most courses held on Saturday. A growing number of courses meet on Sunday (usually intensive, meeting for one-half semester) and a few advanced courses offered week nights. These times enable working adults to earn an advanced degree without interrupting employment.
Counseling Options Offered at KeanOcean
- School Counseling (48 credits) [CACREP-accredited]
- School Counseling/LPC (60 credits) [School part is CACREP-accredited]
- Clinical Mental Health Counseling (60 credits) [CACREP-accredited]
- LPC Post-MA courses (12 credits)
- SAC Certification (12-27 credits)
Classes are small (maximum of 20 students), facilitating significant faculty-student interaction. Students complete the 48-credit school counseling option in 3 years part time (this includes summer sessions) or the 60 credit options in 4 years. Classes can be taken at either or both Ocean and Union as it is possible that all courses may not be offered fitting a student’s plans.
FACULTY
Our fulltime and adjunct faculty hold a Master’s or Doctoral degree and are Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Certified School Counselors, or both; Some faculty teach courses at both campuses.
