Program Provider Trips
Opportunities
Students at Kean University have three main options for studying abroad: our WKU Exchange, one of our many Spring or Summer Travelearns, or participating in a program provider trip.
PROGRAM PROVIDER
Kean University works with outside companies (program providers) to assist in going for longer lengths of time, including a Winter term, Summer term, Semester, or an Academic year.
This type of program is more "flexible" as it allows students to select their location and duration of study.
Eligibility
Candidates must:
- Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8 from Kean University at the end of the semester prior to studying overseas.
- At least be a sophomore during their overseas semester.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student during their overseas semester.
- Be clear of any conduct violation on campus
- Be clear of any financial oblications to the University
- As per Kean University COVID-19 protocol, all international travel sponsored or programs approved by the University, regardless of destination or reason, will require employees and students to be fully vaccinated in accordance with CDC guidelines, including booster. No exemptions will apply in this category.
Where Do You Start?
Students interested in studying abroad are encouraged to make an appointment with their advisor to discuss which option fits best into their college experience.
When students want to participate in a program provider experience, they will need to work with their academic advisor to find courses offered that are equivalent to their Kean University academic degree requirements.
Additionally, students participating in a program provider experience must complete two applications: one through our Kean Abroad Portal and another directly through the program provider website. Please note that program providers have varying deadlines and may not accept a student's application post deadline.
Application Process
- Student comes to discuss interest with an advisor
- Cost, location, academics, excursions
- Student speaks with academic advisor/department chair about course equivalencies
- Student applies to Kean Abroad application and program provider application
- Once accepted, the student receives the Kean scholarship application link
- Student completes Coursework at Another Institution Form and Financial Aid Form
- Student registers for courses abroad for the term (not Kean)
