Kean University has entered into an agreement with Aflac to offer certain voluntary insurance benefits to full-time employees.
Aflac, the leading provider of supplemental insurance at the worksite in the United States, is different from medical insurance because it is insurance for daily living. It pays cash benefits in the event of an accident or serious illness.
Aflac helps you take care of the expenses health insurance doesn't cover. Aflac representatives will be on campus during open enrollment. The Aflac Office is located in the Miron Student Center, room 226A. Open Enrollment in Aflac voluntary benefits will take place from September 9th - October 31, 2024 for coverage that will be effective on January 1, 2025.
Eligible employees can select coverage under the following Aflac offerings:
Short-term disability: Provides monthly cash benefits for off-the-job injury, sickness, surgery and maternity in addition to New Jersey Temporary Disability Insurance.
Accident policy: Covers on- or off-the-job injuries in addition to other insurance programs.
Cancer insurance: Pays cash benefits at the time of internal cancer diagnosis to help with any unmet costs for hospital confinement, travel benefits and more.
Lump-sum critical illness: Pays a benefit of $10,000 upon onset of certain critical illnesses to help with unmet expenses.
Hospital insurance: Provides a cash benefit upon hospital admission and a daily confinement benefit.
Employees who elect any of these coverages will pay via payroll deductions.
