Staff
Erin T. Lester, Multicultural Affairs Program Coordinator
Erin T. Lester serves as the Multicultural Affairs Coordinator for the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Kean University and the Legislative Director for District 35. She works with students and our local communities to drive forward social justice advocacy initiatives. She believes that education is foundational in driving forward the work of our ancestry. Her most requested workshop sessions include a deep dive into the concept of Unconscious Bias and Academic Etiquette. Erin recommends that authors like bell hooks, Toni Morrison, Kimberle Crenshaw, Ibram X. Kendi, Lily Zheng and James Baldwin to be on your reading list not just in not just during the respective heritage month but everyday thereafter.
Graduate Assistant
Each academic year, the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strives to create equitable solutions with the perspective of our students. Our Graduate Assistants serve as committee chairs, acting-advisors for programs and events and as co-leaders with our student staff to earn professional development skills.
Student Staff
Our Multicultural Affairs student staff pour passion and justice into creating opportunities for our community to engage in culturally competent celebration and uncomfortable conversations. Each of their projects is rooted in scholarship and connected to the Campus Climate Survey results from Spring 2022. We measure progress through the success of our collaborations. Creating a sense of belonging is vital in advocating for forward movement in social justice.
