ABP 401(a) Distribution - Instructions for Adjuncts
If you are actively employed as an adjunct with Kean University in Workday, you will be unable to withdraw money from your ABP 401(a) fund. If you would like to pursue a withdrawal, please send a letter of resignation from your @kean account*. This may be submitted to:
Benefits Unit, Office of Human Resources, Administration Building, 2nd floor, Kean University, 1000 Morris Ave, Union New Jersey 07083.
*If you are unable to send your letter of resignation from your @Kean account, you may send us alternative proof of identity.
Additionally, please be advised adjuncts who are members of the Alternate Benefit Program (ABP) and choose to withdraw their ABP/401(a) funds (includes a rollover of any amount to an IRA), will be considered retired by the NJ Division of Pensions and Benefits regardless of age, and cannot participate in any State-administered retirement system thereafter. Details may be found here: ABP Withdrawal Request Acknowledgement Receipt Form. We encourage you to discuss withdrawals with your ABP financial services representative to help you determine if they are right for you.
Once you submit your letter of resignation, we will submit a termination memo to the Division of Pension and Benefits in Trenton informing them of your separation.
If you have not already done so by that time, you will also need to complete forms from your ABP Service Provider requesting a distribution and have them submitted to the Division of Pension and Benefits for approval.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact benefits@kean.edu.
