How do I find my advisor?
In your Navigate360 Student App, go to Resources, then click People, to see any advisor or counselor assigned to you and schedule an appointment. (This video provides detailed instructions!) You can also visit the KeanWISE Student Planning area and select the Advising tab to view your advisor’s information and send a message to them.
If you do not have an academic advisor listed in KeanWISE or are unable to get in touch with your advisor, you can contact your respective program's department chair or executive director.
Visit the Academic Advising Requirements page for additional information regarding advising at Kean.
When can I register?
Priority registration for Winter and Spring 2025 opens on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. You can determine your eligibility group based on the number of credits you have accrued using this chart.
What is a scholar? Does being a scholar qualify me for early registration?
Scholars are Kean University students with GPAs of 3.85 or higher. Scholars qualify for priority registration for Winter and Spring 2025 courses on October 29, 2024.
How do I remove a hold on my account?
Students can resolve holds on their accounts using the information outlined on the Registration Holds and Restrictions page. This page outlines all system holds, as well as what the hold means and which person or department to contact to resolve the hold. Note that any active holds on a student’s account will be visible in KeanWISE.

Am I able to change my schedule after I register?
Students are able to change their course schedules until the full-term and first-half term course add/drop period ends during each semester. View the academic calendar online to see dates and deadlines according to course formats. Students enrolled in second-half term courses must contact the Office of the Registrar to add or drop courses after the full-term and first-half term course add/drop period has ended.
To change your schedule after you have registered but before the full-term and first-half term course add/drop period is over, log in to KeanWISE Student Planning and make adjustments. To withdraw from a course after the drop period is over, follow the steps outlined on the Withdrawal Information page of our website.
Is waitlisting a course the same as registering for a course?
No, joining a waitlist is not the same as registering for a course. If you are a full-time student, be sure to register for an alternate course to ensure your financial aid and billing are not impacted. If the waitlisted course becomes available, you will be invited to register via email.
Visit the Waitlist page for additional information on Kean’s waitlist tool and answers to frequently asked questions regarding the waitlist process at Kean.
How do I get a granted petition?
To obtain a granted petition or to overload a class, contact the chairperson of the department holding the class. Department chairpersons can be found through the Colleges and Schools area of our website.
Please note that granted petitions are not always guaranteed, and that if an alternate course section is available students should register for that section. If extenuating circumstances exist – such as a particular section being the only course you can take for a class required for graduation – please share this information with the department chairperson.
Prior to messaging the chairperson, please review the additional information in the Section Details of a course’s catalog listing, in case there is information relevant to petitions or course overloads.
I can’t register for an online course. Why?
Kean Online courses are only open to Kean Online students until five days before the course begins. On-campus students who would like to register for online courses must wait until five days before the semester begins to register for an open seat in an online course. Prior to this time period, in-person students who wish to take a Kean Online course should contact the academic department offering the course to obtain an electronic petition (permission).
If I need a class to graduate and the only course I can take is online, how do I register?
Contact col@kean.edu and explain your circumstances. Be sure to provide your student ID and course section information.
How do I register for a second-half course after the add period has closed for full-term courses?
Submit the Second-Half Term Registration Request Form if you would like to register for a second-half term or online course after the add period for full-term courses is over. You can also visit the Office of the Registrar for assistance.

Is there a penalty for changing my schedule?
There is no penalty for changing your schedule until the add/drop deadline for a course has passed. You can find add/drop deadlines on the academic calendar based on course format. Please be aware that changing the number of credits you are enrolled in may have an impact on your charges and financial aid eligibility. Schedule changes should be made in consultation with your academic advisor or program coordinator.
When does the late registration period begin?
The late registration period begins the day after the published payment due date for each semester. For example, for the Spring 2025 semester, the payment due date is December 11, 2024 and the late registration period begins December 12, 2024.
When do I get charged a late registration fee?
Students are charged a late registration fee if they do not register for any courses until after the published payment due date for a semester. Newly admitted students who have been accepted by Kean University two weeks prior to the payment due date and thereafter are exempt from this policy. Additionally, a late registration fee is not charged to students making course changes, including adding and dropping courses, after the payment due date.
Can I register even if I can’t pay my tuition bill yet?
Yes. The payment due date for Spring 2025 courses is December 11, 2024. For Winter courses, the payment due date is December 4, 2024. Students can pay their tuition in full by the payment due date for each semester, or can set up a payment plan through the Office of Student Accounting. Please note that billing timelines for each academic year are generally available until July 1.
