Kean University to Host Awareness Event in Response to Haiti Tragedy

UNION, NJ - In response to Haiti relief efforts, the Kean University community will host a presentation by Erik Parker, a ’99 Kean alum who witnessed the devastation of the Haiti earthquake firsthand. The presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m., today, January 20, in the University Center Little Theater on the main campus.

Parker, a former music editor for The Source and Vibe magazines and freelance writer for Rolling Stone, was in Haiti filming video for his graduate work and also on assignment for Vibe magazine when the earthquake struck. Through video that Parker filmed -- and that he will unveil at the presentation – observers will see a glimpse of the damage on the island nation.

Parker’s visit is coordinated by Kean and NJ For Haiti. Anyone who wishes to make a monetary contribution to Haiti relief efforts should make checks payable to New Jersey For Haiti, c/o UWGUC or visit
