Kean University to host a Screening of Defiance
UNION – Kean University will host a screening of the recently released film, Defiance, on Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m. in Hutchinson Hall, J-100. Defiance tells the tale of three brothers who fought the Nazis during World War II and saved more than 1,200 Jews. Zvi Bielsky, the son of Zus Bielsky played by Liev Schreiber, will speak and take questions following the film.
On the run and hiding in the forests of Belarus, the three brothers take on the seemingly impossible mission of acquiring food and weapons for survival. Zvi Bielsky, who served as an advisor to the actors and filmmakers of Defiance, will share accounts of his father’s story.
The screening is sponsored by the Jewish Faculty and Staff Association in conjunction with Kean University’s Jewish Studies Program, Jewish Culture Club and Holocaust Resource Center.
For more information or for reservations, please contact Edith Jaskoll, Department of Philosophy at Kean University, at (908) 737-3981.
