Retiree Health Benefits
Members are eligible for an offer of retiree health benefits if they are retiring full-time Kean University employees that are covered by, or eligible for, the State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) and are eligible for a retirement benefit from a New Jersey State -administered retirement system immediately following termination of employment.
The cost will vary depending on the member's years of service. Employees with 25 years of service will be eligible for premium sharing. Employees with less than 25 years of service do not qualify for employer paid coverage and must pay the full cost of retiree health benefits coverage, if they elect to enroll.
For further details, see Health Benefits Coverage – Enrolling as a Retiree.
Members may obtain a retiree health cost estimate from the NJ Division of Pensions & Benefits by calling (609) 292-7524. The Retiree Health Worksheet, is also available to enable members eligible for premium sharing to estimate the cost of their retiree medical and prescription drug coverage.
