Below are a few of the most common questions we receive from excited students. As we get closer to the Summer 2016 program this list may grow.

How will I know if I have been accepted?

Upon confirmation of payment, your official Kean U.S.A. Enrollment Letter and Form DS 2019 will be sent via express mail to your home address. Please note that it can take 7-10 business days for you to receive the official documents from Kean University. Upon receipt, you must contact the US Embassy to schedule an appointment for your application for a visa.

What do I need to know for my VISA?

To participate in the Kean U.S.A. English Immersion Program, you must apply for a J-1 Exchange Visa at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in your home country.  Upon receiving payment for the program, Kean University will send you your enrollment letter, along with Form DS 2019 which will enable you to apply for your visa. Please note that during peak periods, it can take up to four weeks to get an appointment at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate. Please be prompt with setting up your appointment, as a delay in processing or obtaining your visa can result in your inability to participate in this program. Please note that you are responsible for the visa processing fee.

Who should I contact if I have more questions?

If at any time you have any questions or concerns about the application or admission process for the Kean U.S.A. English Immersion Program, please email us at immersion@kean.edu

Who will meet me at the airport?

You will be greeted by members of our Kean USA administration and staff as well as your English Language Mentors! When you come off of your flight this team will be eagerly awaiting for you on the other side of the gates. Be sure to keep an eye out for the online orientation program. By completing the online orientation program you will be well versed in what to expect upon arriving to the program. Check your welcome packet for specific arrival dates and location.

Will I have an orientation?

You will have two forms of orientation. The first will be through an online platform. You will be given a log-in, and access to our virtual orientation module. This will give you an opportunity to ask us questions as you complete each unit within the program. This orientation will include information regarding Student Affairs and Academic Affairs. The orientation will be in English so you will want to review the modules several times. Once you arrive on campus you will experience your in person orientations.

I am nervous about my English. Will there be other people whose English is similar to mine?

The great part about the Intensive English Immersion program is that we have students of all different language levels enrolled. Our students have typically had at least one year of formal English studies in college. However their spoken language abilities vary.
