Welcome Messages

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

It is an exciting time to be a student at Kean.  Investments in our campus and programs during recent years are creating a world-class University.   The New Jersey Center for Science, Technology and Mathematics building opens this fall and provides state of the art laboratories and learning facilities for all Kean students.

As you stroll through our picturesque campus, you will notice other facilities that are unparalleled in the state of New Jersey, including Harwood Arena, the Center for Academic Success and our new residence halls.  We also have invested in our social and recreational spaces, knowing they are vital to providing you with an atmosphere that is conducive to learning.  All of our dining facilities on campus have been renovated, and soon we will open the second largest academic Starbucks in the nation on the first floor of the Nancy Thompson Library.

I encourage you to take advantage of all that Kean University has to offer.  Become a staff writer for The Cougar’s Byte, host your own show on our radio station or join one of our many student groups.  The possibilities are endless, and the rewards are priceless.

I look forward to seeing you on campus.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dawood Farahi
President

MESSAGE FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS

Welcome to Kean University. We invite you to assist us in fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect, understanding and appreciation for each individual member of the University and the surrounding community.

The student handbook is designed to serve as a resourceful guide to campus life at Kean. Included in the handbook are programs and sets of standards for you as an individual and in our community. We encourage you to get involved in the campus life of Kean University. Studies have shown that students who are participating in extracurricular activities outside of their academic work will succeed. Campus activities will afford you the opportunity to learn about yourself through leadership positions and through interactions with our diverse community of students, faculty and staff. I encourage you to make full use of the resources and opportunities that Kean has to offer.

Please remember that we are here to help you. If at any time you have a question, concern or suggestion, be sure to let us know. We are glad you are here and wish you a rewarding and successful school year.

Sincerely,

Janice Murray-Laury
Vice President for Student Affairs
