Counseling Services

The Kean Counseling Center is designed to assist students in all areas of psychological counseling. The center provides individually tailored psychotherapy services and programs to address mental health issues which can impinge on academic performance such as:

  • Personal development related to family concerns
  • Childhood trauma
    • Personal development related to family concerns
  • Sexual identity
  • Eating disorders
  • Self-esteem
  • Peer and relational difficulties
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Sexual assault or rape
Anxiety and Depression are frequent concerns of our students that are addressed through the use of psychotherapy. When indicated, medication may be suggested and a consultation with the psychiatrist can be arraigned.

Psychiatric Consultation

A part-time psychiatrist is available for consultation when further evaluation and/or medication are needed. These services are an option for individuals who are actively involved in ongoing treatment with one of the counseling center staff.

Eligibility for Services

The services of the Kean Counseling Center are available for all Kean Universiy students and are free of charge.
