Anticipated Faculty Positions 2012-2013

All open faculty positions are ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignments at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective September 1, 2012 unless otherwise indicated. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Courses are taught at the Union campus but some positions may include assignments at Ocean County College in Toms River, New Jersey or other locations.

All faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity.  Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college and university level is also required.  Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. All positions are subject to availability of funds, due to financial exigencies.

College of Business and Public Management

School of Management, Marketing and International Business


To teach a range of marketing courses especially marketing research; marketing strategy; business to business (B2B) marketing; and marketing logistics. A secondary interest in international marketing is a plus.  Candidate may teach at both the Union and Ocean campuses.

Qualifications: Doctorate in Marketing from an AACSB- or EQUIS-accredited program and a clearly established research agenda with some demonstration of success in scholarship required; ABD considered with completion date by September 1, 2012.  Several recent peer-reviewed publications and teaching experience is preferred. The College of Business and Public Management is actively pursuing AACSB accreditation - only applicants who qualify as "AQ" status according to AACSB standards will be considered.

College of Natural, Applied and Health Sciences

School of Nursing (Two Positions - Associate Professor)

Curriculum Specialist – Ph.D. in Nursing Educational Leadership program opening in September 2013. There are three components of the new Ph.D. program being initiated: preparation for seminal research, advanced pedagogy and clinical expertise. This position is for an expert in curriculum design principles, program development and implementation, faculty role innovation and learning outcomes measurement with applications to health and educational settings. Responsibilities span the full range of faculty activities including: teaching Ph.D. curriculum-related courses through dissertation supervision and completion; selected courses in the MSN programs; active scholarly research and publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals; presentations at conferences; grantsmanship; recruitment, advisement and mentoring of post-baccalaureate students; advanced leadership on University committees; and participation in curriculum design for new program initiatives and outcomes assessment of current programs.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Nursing or a related field; current Registered Nurse license or license-eligible in the State of New Jersey; a documented track record of peer-reviewed publications; the ability to teach curriculum and principles, concepts, values and approaches to graduate and doctoral candidates; successful research as a Principal Investigator; certification in a nursing clinical specialty, as well as demonstrated international/global activities; future research agenda; experience teaching in a doctoral program; and experience serving on a dissertation committee for several doctoral projects is required.

Graduate Coordinator- Graduate Coordinator for the three School of Nursing graduate programs: MSN in Clinical Administration, School Nursing and Community Health Nursing and participation in the anticipated Ph.D. program. With a student population of over 600+ RN-BSN and MSN students, NLN accreditation, vibrant enterprises within a Center for Nursing Research and an active Global Nursing Initiative, growth and further development are the hallmarks of our strategic plan. Responsibilities address the primary graduate education leadership role encompassing the areas of: oversight of graduate and doctoral-level curriculum and program development; student learning outcome assessments; scheduling; teaching; on-going scholarship; grantsmanship; external agency contracts and relationships; University service; and the overall organization and supervision of the School of Nursing’s post-baccalaureate programs’ productivity, ethical/legal parameters and goal achievements.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Nursing; current Registered Nurse license or license-eligible in the State of New Jersey; three to five years of experience in teaching in graduate level academic roles; and knowledge of curriculum design, implementation and evaluation required. Two to five years of leadership experience in academic and/or clinical settings; a history of some outcomes measurement responsibilities; excellent communication competencies; evidence of scholarship on a regional and national level; knowledge of the essentials of grant writing; membership and participation in professional organizations; and certification in a clinical specialty is preferred.

Department of Computer Science – seeking an active scholar and dedicated teacher to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses. Candidate must demonstrate scholarly capability and an established and active independent research agenda in one of several core areas of interest, including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence; algorithms; data mining;analytics; databases; and game design and development.

Center for Sustainability Studies 

To teach courses in the B.S. in Sustainability Science program.

Qualifications: Candidate must be broadly trained in the Earth systems sciences and/or the human systems sciences (the two concentrations within the degree program) with teaching and research experience that reflects applications in sustainability science. Doctorate in sustainability science or an appropriate discipline related to one of the aforementioned concentrations; proven success in securing external funds for sustainability science projects; and peer-reviewed publications in journals or books related to sustainability science required.

Department of Educational Leadership - Two Positions

MA – Ed.D./Graduate Program (Assistant/Associate)

To teach graduate level courses in educational leadership to masters and doctoral students.  

Qualifications: Candidate should have a strong background in the administration of schools and an appreciation of the challenges facing school leaders and communities, in particular, urban communities.  Preference will be given to candidates with K-12 administrative and teaching experience particularly in high needs communities. This position requires the production of refereed publications of sufficient quality and quantity to qualify for serving on doctoral committees.  Requires an earned doctorate in educational administration or a related area in addition to relevant and successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Experience with distance learning, online course delivery methods and working with a multicultural student population preferred.

Department of Graduate Management Studies – Two Positions

Management Science (Assistant/Associate) – to teach graduate level courses such as: quantitative methods; operations management; supply chain management; knowledge management; and other related topics in both the Global MBA and Executive MBA options.
