Kean University Offers Visual Arts Courses for High School Students

UNION, N.J. – New Jersey high school students are invited to enroll in one of Kean University’s Office of Continuing and Professional Education’s non-credit, visual-arts seminars in Drawing and Painting or Sculpting to be held Mondays through Thursdays from July 12 through July 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1000 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J.

Open to students, ages 14 through 18, the studio courses will be conducted in Kean’s state-of-the-art facilities by professional artists who are experienced educators. Through the implementation of a variety of techniques which emphasize individual expression and skill development, attendees will learn about the materials and methods of sculpture and painting. Participants will be able to prepare portfolio materials for college entrance as well as be introduced to new art forms. No prior experience is required. Enrollment is limited to ensure the maximum education benefit for participating students.

There is a fee of $185 for each eight-session workshop, which includes art supplies. Pre-registration is required for Sculpting, CEK 504, Section 060, and for Painting, CEK 503, Section 060, to Continuing and Professional Education at (908) 737-5840.
