Kean Again Named to Great
Colleges for the Real World
UNION, N.J. Octameron Associates, a higher education publishing
and consulting firm based in Alexandria, Va., lauded Kean University in
its book, Great Colleges for the Real World for the third-consecutive
year.
Great Colleges for the Real World, authored by Michael Voillt,
president of Robert Morris College in Chicago, distinguishes itself from
traditional college guides by considering the modern mission of students
entering college. The selection process by Voillt was based on five basic
areas: providing an opportunity for general student population to be admitted
and finance their education; graduating students in a timely fashion;
a commitment to developing career opportunities; the overall college experience;
and the recent market response to the respective institution. Kean was
among the acclaimed colleges by being mindful of and committed to accommodating
current student demand.
"We are extremely pleased to be selected by Octameron as an institution
that complements student needs in pursuing their college education,"
noted Dr. Frank J. Esposito, interim president of Kean University. "To
be selected for the third-consecutive year illustrates our continuing
commitment to enhancing our institutional standards, while maintaining
our focus on student objectives."
In its profile, Kean receives the highest possible marks in the category
of overall college experience. It is recognized for its low tuition rates
and opportunities provided to students in potential career development.
Kean also received praise for its Adult Re-Entry Program Into College
(EPIC), established to provide guidance to students 25 and older who are
entering the University for the first time.
