Diversity

Kean University is committed to growing and sustaining a diverse and inclusive learning environment.  To that end Kean practices equity in our recruitment and University policies. Kean’s faculty, staff, and student body all reflect the college’s dedication to diversity. Kean University administration believe that exposure to diverse perspectives enhances the educational experience for all concerned. Kean takes pride in the richly varied backgrounds of its diverse faculty and student body; it has been recognized nationally for these efforts. DiversityInc. magazine recently named Kean University one of the top five universities in the country.

Kean student organizations promote community building, appreciation for cultural histories, and social justice.  Kean’s commitment to routing the scourge of bias, intolerance, and prejudice is evidenced by our broad range of educational programs highlighting human rights and social justice. Kean is home to the Human Rights Institute and Holocaust Resource Center, which are dedicated to raising awareness regarding the legacy of genocide and human rights violations worldwide.

University administration recognizes and values the similarities and differences among students and recognized student organizations at Kean. Discrimination, sexual and bias-related harassment, and other similar violations disrupt the educational process and will not be tolerated.

Kean students are immersed in a pluralistic culture where ideas are exchanged openly. Students who learn amidst a culture of diversity are prepared to be meaningful contributors in today’s vibrant economic and cultural landscape. Kean graduates emerge well educated and broad-minded, ready to excel in the global economy.
